Before the decorations go up, before you get that Christmas
jumper on, before the mulled wine warms your heart…. Do you get that gut
wrenching fear of knowing you’re going to have to tackle the shops in pursuit
of buying a thousand presents for your friends and family?!
I love shopping (obviously) but there’s something about
shopping in the masses that does get the heart rate going! So, in one day, I
took it all on, and here’s how it went:
This year I’ve partnered up with One New Change, right next to St Pauls Cathedral (and tube), to tackle my Christmas shopping. I actually went on Black
Friday! I know, am I crazy?!
To my pleasant surprise it was a total breeze! Surrounded by
offices, it was only around lunch where the herd of suit cladded business men
and women ran for the nearest Eat or Pho.
Starting my shopping venture off at 10am, I first went to
Calvin Klein to sort out the boys in my life. And yes, I weirdly buy my teenage
brother nice pants every year, he’s a student, luxuries like this are gold
dust! I also got some for my boyfriend as a stocking filler and then headed to
Topman to get the rest of their bits. Oh yes, I also bought a little something
for myself in there too. You’ll notice that the CK at One New Change is only
underwear, but they do also have loungewear, so I got myself a black CK t-shirt to change into later on, how would anyone ever know that it was only meant to
Topman is the perfect stop for a quick fashion fix, just
like Topshop, you really can’t go wrong! Stocking up on basics for the boys (I
dress them like I do myself), both Aaron (my brother) and Will (my boyfriend),
will have a pair of stretch skinny black jeans to wear on Christmas day. I also
grabbed a couple of jersey basics for my little brother, a hoodie, a super soft
tracksuit and 2 for £12 basic t-shirts; all in nudes and blushes, my favourite
tones of the season! After Kanye’s newest collection came out, the trend has
been trickling down into the high-street, and I’m grabbing it all. Think of
those rose pink and beige tonal looks, from head to toe. This theme marches on….
H&M was next on my hit list. Continuing that Kayne
theme; I went for a knitted tracksuit in a to die for light blushy pink. It’s
going to look super luxe over Christmas with a camel coat on top and my Gucci
loafers, or even a simple white pair of converse? I can’t wait!
H&M are one of my favourite retailers at the moment,
their trend range is just incredible, the designs are really original and the
quality is fantastic. The One New Change store has a large Trend section that
made me so happy, and I wasn’t fighting with a hundred other women to get in
there which made the difference!
Leaving with a tracksuit, plus a black silk midi skirt which
at £29.99 was a bargain! Oh, and another coat, I just can’t resist! A floor length,
double breasted, brown checked dream. I actually end up throwing it on with a
couple of bits I bought that day! Teamed up with my new Kurt Geiger, shiny
pointed boots —- they are incredible! And surprisingly comfortable! I also
swapped into a couple of basics I grabbed from GAP. Their straight leg jeans in
black and a simple white v-neck t-shirt. I love basics!
Whilst in GAP I headed to the kid’s section in hunt of a
blue puffer jacket for the family’s newest arrival; 3-week-old Zac…. He’s
gorgeous! They had the cutest, white fluffy boots and navy knitted jumper that
I couldn’t resist for him. Not forgetting his older sister Eva, I bought some
adorable little Converse high-tops for her from Office. She’s a real fashion lover (at the
age of 2!) and I cannot wait to see her stomping around on Christmas in a
whirlwind of wrapping paper.
The last items on my shopping list were small bits for my
sisters, so I headed to Oliver Bonas and left with a hilarious coffee table
book; ‘The Life Changing Magic of Not Giving a F**K’, and a most beautiful
Agate Stone Book Ends. You can always count on Oliver Bonas to have those homeware
pieces to spoil your loved ones, they had so many other things I wanted, but my
arm space was running out and my back was starting to cave….
So, after a good 4 hours shopping, I headed to Hershesons for a much need blow dry. Whoever said shopping isn’t work needs their head
checked! A quick head massage and a Wavy Gravy style by goddess Lily was just
what I needed after all that!
After a quick change into that CK top and H&M skirt I
bought earlier, I met a couple of friends who work nearby for champagne at Searcy’s. It was the perfect, glamorous ending to the mission
impossible. Soaking up the bubbles while displaying my flock of Christmas
goodies. And then later on we ventured to the roof terrace to enjoy the pink sunset — stunning!
I’m still super pleased with myself for getting all of this
done in one day. The fact that One New Change is located in a busy office
location made my bag carrying ordeal a lot less stressful as it was surprisingly quiet most of the day. Especially compared to other shopping centres, (I’ve tried tackling the shops with a full Christmas list before and it somehow has always ended in tears!) So I’m ecstatic with this incredible collaboration. Plus at One New Change, it houses all of my
favourite brands so there was no need to shop online after the mammoth spree.
All in all, the shopping, a Wavy Gravy and a couple of glasses of bubbly made for a chic,
hassle free shopping experience (I’ll be back next week for purely selfish
