For years I have been after a denim dress, something that didn’t make me look like my three year old niece. Its a hard line when wearing denim on pinpointing your age, denim is timeless and ageless, but when stepping away from the iconic jean, a denim dress or skirt can make you look a lot younger than desired.

Personally, I love mid-lenght dresses. They have a certain chicness to them that a short dress seams to repel. A knee lenght dress, I just don’t understand, they are never flattering, on any shape or age. Above the knee? Sassy. And if you have it, why not, just maybe for the right occasion.

But do these rules apply when talking denim? YES. They even up it a little. A mid-lenght or knee lenght can add years, where a short denim dress can take years off you, but I don’t think either are in a good way. Think older as in clueless, ill-fitting denim skirts, not retro or cool way. And others make you younger in an out there, trying to be innocent way — you have to be super particular!

Yes I know short denim and now long denim skirts are huge for Summer, but like I said, pay attention to the styling, simple is key. Maybe team them with basic oversized t’s.

Accessories, out there pieces will up your fashion game, and make them bold. Bright colours, contrasting materials, they will show you know how to mix styles, it will also keep you away from looking like a school girl — no black shoes please. The simpleness of the this dress also gives you the option of wearing it with patterns, worn with my trusted Miu Miu’s, its inspired me to go further and them it out with those new Balenciaga flower embroidered boots — they are incredible! Not wanting the £645 bill? Don’t worry, Topshop have a pretty good pair too!

This particular dress which has ended my 5 year long search was a dream find from Warehouse while shopping with my mum last weekend. Also it was only £18! The shape echoes that tinsel dress by Rejina Pyo — one of the hottest designers to watch this year.

Also, while in town today with my friend, we were talking my JW Anderson bag, and how its in almost every picture of mine. It was expensive, I saved up for it, I love it, and yes I use it almost everyday so of course its going to be in my pictures. You may be sick of it, but this is a real life staple.
