THE TINSEL DRESS

I first saw it gracing one of my favourite bloggers, Camille Charriere on her instagram, I think she was going to an event and of course she looked incredible! All over silver tinsel, mid-lenght, pulled in at the waist. This is a birthday girls dream.

With that in my head, when scanning Style Bop for some pieces for fashion week, of course they stocked Rejina Pyo, the incredibly talented tinsel dress designer. If you don’t know of Rejina Pyo, please make friends, she is amazing! There’s also another super iconic dress of hers, yellow, oversized flutted sleeves, mid-length. Its basically a dress you know people are going to want to take pictures of.

New designer alert: Rejina Pyo

So I ordered the dress, (the last size 8!) and when it came I was totally blown agway! It shines so much more in real life, and that kind of frightened me a little. Yes I like to stand out, but I also like to try and look minimal and chic, a total oxymoron I know. Anyways after deliberating it for a couple of day’s, I decided to go for it, so it was just the styling that was left.

Unfortunately it was too tight on me to wear anything underneath. I had recently seen a picture of a girl with a massive chunky jumper under a sleek dress which looked incredible, and that was my vision all along. Which was quickly shattered. I even bought this gorgeous bright mimosa jumper to wear with it —- yes that colour again.

If you want to wear a jumper under the dress, go up a size or two

I then pulled out my Topshop khaki jacket, their newest version with the funnel neck and popper detail, a true nod to Isabel Marant. Teaming this with the dress totally worked — read my last post on playing with proportions.

Longer jackets with even out a full and wide dress/skirt

Yes the dress was long and wide, and being 5’1 it could of been mental, but with that thigh skimming jacket it evened out the wideness, and it also made it look a lot cooler as then the dress was taking over the entire look. Khaki is such a great neutral tone to calm anything down, and yes the tinsel needed calming at 2pm in bright light by the London’s Tate Modern. —- This is my look for the Topshop Unique show, which was incredible!
