5’1 AND ILL WEAR A FLOOR LENGHT COAT IF I WANT

I’ve had this coat for a week, and I’ve worn it three times, now thats a sign of a good purchase!

So whats the deal? Its my new London Summer jacket, as lets face it, we’re not really having a Summer at the moment, its freezing! And this Paul Smith SS17 (from the runway may I add) coat is the perfect protector.

WHY DOES IT WORK

I’m 5’1, I’m short, but I embrace it and use it to my advantage. A floor lenght coat has drama, and can carry a super basic look. Underneath I’m wearing my Levis and a basic tee, plus with my Vans and Mango fabric bag its a basic look. The coat lifts it, makes it dramatic and fashion appropriate for my meetings that day. —- This is actually what I wore today, see insta-stories, and I felt amazing in it.

DOES HIGHT MATTER

Again, I’m 5’1, and if I want to wear a floor lenght coat I’m going to. The key is proportions. Evening it out with a weighty bag, maybe keeping the undergarments strong and simple, like jeans to keep the silhouette tight so when the wind blows the jacket away you can see your shape. Also I always find that this look actually looks better with flats!

Remember that coats will be different lengths on everyone. On the models this one was practically knee lenght – pros and cons to everything!

WHAT CAN WORK

Wanting to do this but need more versatility? Why not go for a wrap dress? There are so many on the market at the moment which are fabulous done up but super cool undone with a basic tee and jeans. Or even done up and then pinned so you can still see the jeans. UBER COOL.
