7 THINGS I GET ASKED THE MOST

WHAT ARE YOU?

Yes I know, it doesn’t sound great when its written in front of you does it, but this is one of the most frequent questions I get asked. What I think people mean is what’s your origin? So, my dad is from India, he moved to England when he was 3 with his parents and 5 older sisters. My mum’s family are from Singapore, and they moved to Huddersfield, Yorkshire, where my mum was born and raised with her 2 sisters and 2 brothers. My religion is Sikhism.

WHAT IS THAT ORANGE/VINTAGE FILTER ON INSTASTORIES?

People go crazy for a craze, and this seams to be the latest thing. At the beginning of the season I told you I was going crazy for 70’s style, and this didn’t just stop with clothing. You may have noticed my imagery has mirrored my recent obsession, and I get asked daily about the filter used on my instastories. Its an app called 8mm. Super simple, basic, but works.

WHERE IS YOUR FURNITURE FROM?

I’ve already done a few home-wear shoots, but some pieces are half in half out, or someone might miss the post I guess. I’m super into interior design, and am starting to create a flair of my own in our home in South West London. My most recent purchase, the teal velvet sofa is from Made.com, the two velvet ottomans are from Barker and Stonehouse. I also have a lot from French Connection Home. Their stuff is so beautiful! Their console table and stools are where I perch to work during the day. FC have mastered that old rustic look with their furniture, but its all still super clean and new which I love. Their mirrors and lights are a dream too. My old round rose gold coffee table is from Next, maybe 2 years ago now? I have a huge cow skin rug underneath the coffee table which was from Home Sense in Cardiff. I also have a weird obsession with vases, I buy them all the time and lug them home on the tube, completely bending my spine in the meantime. Theres a large blue one by my mirror in the living room which is a year or so old from John Lewis.

HOW TALL ARE YOU?

Im 5’1. Yes I’m petite. I’m also a size uk8 at the moment. But for me it’s not about sizing, I buy clothes in different sizes. It’s about how the items fall around you, how they make you feel.

HOW DID YOU GET INTO BLOGGING?

I fell naturally into it. I was a stylist before, working at Topshop as a Personal Shopper. I created an Instagram account when it started and posted my daily looks. My clients followed me and request me to write a blog so they could know more about the outfits without having to always come into see me.

WHAT DO YOU ACTUALLY DO?

My friends too often still say this to me and it makes me laugh. My days are often extremely manic, cramming in 100 different things, non of which are fairly glamourous. I still consider myself a stylist, just an online one now. I do this because I want to inspire others to feel great in the clothes they wear. Everyone should, we only have one body, get one life, have one chance, so lets do it looking sassy. In order for me to do this every day I have a lot of meetings cementing friendships with brands where sometimes it’s them pitching ideas to me and sometimes me to them. I will then have a shoot to get in a couple of looks for the week with one of my brilliant photographers. I’ll then rush home and get on emails, or frantically try to attack them while on the bus with my phone, only to make a million spelling mistakes.

Editing photos, planning outfits, writing, ALOT. Brainstorming new ideas, new concepts, researching brands, runways looks, styles, trends. Seeing whats new, in every highstreet store on Oxford Circus, then online for the high end, EVERY SINGLE MORNING.

It’s hectic and grueling, far from the glittery filtered idea, but I love it.

WHERE IS THAT FROM?

Everything I wear I link through LiketoKnowIt. That’s the app where once you like my image, you get an email with the links to shop it all (If I’ve typed a code in the caption). Instagram’s with the LiketoKnowIt software also go automatically into the ‘Shop My Instagram‘ section of my blog. Additionally there’s a ‘Shop My Wardrobe‘ tab with all the pieces I have bought, am waiting to buy, or am just lusting over for the season. If an outfit I’m wearing isn’t linked or tagged, it will be on my blog in a post.
