I love Isabel Marant. She’s my favourite designer, its my favourite brand. Why? Because its effortless, chic, the clothes ooze that sexy laid back Parisian style. They make me feel cool, whilst still managing to be a little casual and of course, never overdressed. Her pieces also last, they end up being timeless because they are never too ‘trend’ driven, the brand is a trend in itself. Her clothes make me feel sexy, in a tomboy way, I find them flattering, and comfy and even on my petite 5’1 frame they fit well.
The outfit I’m wearing above is all Marant, well actually the blazer isn’t, thats Zara but a complete knock off of the Marant one. I love investing in clothing, accessories and shoes, but sometimes my bank balance wont let me go the full way, and I’m forced to complete my look with a couple of hight street doppelgangers. And at the moment theres a lot of ‘Marant Style’ items flying around.
HOW TO DO MARANT ON A BUDGET
There most recent collection was full of layered, sequin encrusted sleeves, diamond scattered jeans, embellished jackets, cuban heels and all things rocky boho. Well, thats all over the hight street now too.
The Marant jeans are incredible, but at £1700 you have to know you’re going to wear them non stop for the rest of your life. Been looking at Topshop recently? They have two styles I am obsessing over! One is the Jamie jean, the most comfy skinny jeans ever, high waisted, cropped, and in this stiff but stretchy denim, an actual dream! These come in black and blue and have diamonds scattered evenly through out. The others are a limited straight jean, also in blue or black but with a heavy embellishment from the knee down.
THE SEQUIN TOP
I cant lie, I need this, its so cool, the way the sequins cover the entire top but somehow the muted grey tone to it makes it not ott like the others out there. I haven’t seen anything like it on the high street annoying! But I have come across a playsuit version from French Connection that does the job. A mute gunmetal grey shade on black fabric, with a super fluid shape. Very Parisian.
The blazers a good one to have in the wardrobe, always. You never know when you’ll need something to throw on your shoulders when heading to dinner in one of your floaty midi dresses. Or something to smarten up your jeans and a tee look.
I couldn’t believe my luck when I found those suede over the knee boots from Kurt Geiger. They are identical. The suedes incredible, the fit like a dream, really snug and finish half way up my thigh on me. Also the heel is exactly the same. No difference. The perfect day to night boot.
I bought a chunky cream Isabel Marant cardigan in the Summer sales which changed my entire view on cardigans. Topshop have just bought out a similar version in black. Buy if, your’ll be surprised how often you end up wearing it.
My pink cords are the best item I’ve bought this season. I wear them all the time and people constantly comment on them. In need of a pair on a budget? Try these:
