I felt a real need to tell you all about my current (well a year long) obsession with Alexa Chung’s insane fashion brand. A fun and playful style with a timeless edge. Her pieces are items that stand out from the crowd, they’re show stoppers that can be saved for that special dinner or wedding, but can easily be dressed down for everyday (if you’re sassy like that). Surprisingly they also fit well on my petite 5’1 frame. Something that I normally struggle with, resulting in a hefty tailoring bill (for those in need I go to Scobies, by Wandsworth Common).
ALEXACHUNG is expensive, at the £350-£1000 for a dress mark, but even with such daring designs they also have a certain timeslessness to them. I have bough two dresses from her recent collection in the last month. Both I said I would be saving for best, a dress that would be perfect for a wedding in Ibiza in September and another I would keep for those dinners in London to prevent any last minute melt downs. However, I’ve worn both dresses already, twice, and thats because you can style them so many different ways. I’ve teamed with with heels, espadrilles, trainers, slides. You name it, they work. Teamed with a basket bag and you have that ultimate 2018 dressy/cas day time look.
I’ve also noticed that her designs are pretty limited, selling on her site and then at a few selected stores like Matches, Selfridges and Net-a-porter, but only with light stock levels. Basically when its gone, it rarely comes back, so you need to pounce quickly. With these two dresses possibly being my favourite buys of SS18, I’m pretty excited about her next collection, which I hope consist of midi day dresses that will take centre stage in my wardrobe until the end of time (or until they don’t fit). I would say her designs are true to fit, I’ve gone for uk 8’s in both.
