I bought these back in February, a birthday present to myself, and one I considered very practical. These were the shoes to take me from Winter into Spring, a way to ease myself into sandal weather – I wear sandals all year round but people look at me like I’m crazy so these are the perfect in-betweens.
But then lockdown came, and my flip-flops became my easy go to’s. They were just perfect for feeling like I’m dressed but still laid back while working from home, and easy to run to the shops in. But with things looking a little better and outside time looking more promising, I’ve gone back to my neglected caged beauties. These will now be the ones keeping me sane during those surprise summer showers, and yes I’m already thinking about my wardrobe transitioning into Autumn.
Worn easily now with simple oversized dresses, or skirts teamed with open linen shirts. And when September hits I’ll be moving into my A/W styling and teaming them with jeans and leather jackets, or suits with the trousers rolled up. These toddler style caged shoes are the perfect transeasonal item, even if it wasn’t the season I thought it would be.
