THE EXACT FORMULA FOR THIS SEASONS BAGGY JEANS

Over the last few years, the trend for a wider, more relaxed style of jean has been building real momentum. Having said goodbye to the skinny jean maybe 5/6 years ago? (Of which I’m sure they will come back around like all trends do). They were quickly replaced with the straight leg, a fit which was cut high and fitted on the waist and thighs, while giving the calfs and ankles some air. I’ve still got a few pairs of timeless jeans in this cut and I’ll never part with them. The cut is so classic and flattering, I’ll go to them if ever in doubt. However, this is the year of the loose, oversized, wide and puddled jean.

I had been looking for a pair like this for years, ones that could be vintage (I tried on a-lot of vintage jeans in my search), ones that still have that classic ridig denim quality, but have been slightly softened to create a more relaxed vibe. Loose on the waist, thighs and legs. In a light wash and just slightly puddled on the hem so they touch the floor ,or even better your shoes, but aren’t dragging. Yes the jean for SS23 is a fine formula and I found exactly that with my Citizen of Humanity Ayla jeans. Note they run a little big, but I love the idea of just rolling up the hem to what suits that day – for once no tailoring needed!

With the style now in limited numbers, I’ve created a quick edit below of 6 of the best highstreet versions to carry you through this season.
