There’s nothing wrong with updating those staple pieces. You’ve worn them over and over again and you simply need the feeling of something fresh, whilst sticking to your ‘goes with everything, will wear forever’ mentality. Also note, that each season those wardrobe essentials do have a little twist. Read below for NET-A-PORTER‘s latest.
A CLASSIC MASCULINE COAT
Having worn a few different styles at the start of this Winter, I’ve now moved onto a more traditional, masculine style. The shape needs to be wide, and the wool on the slightly thinner side – this gives a perfect balance of proportions. Toteme for me is the one to go for, their quality is beautiful, and I have previous coats from this brand which I still lean towards 4 plus years on.
THE OVERSIZED SHIRT
A total staple. But make it big. Frankie Shop always go big, and their colours mimic that more ‘workwear’ attire which looks great worn casually. The shirt I’m wearing is by The Row, in a brushed cotton. Obsessed with the 70’s style collar and wide sleeves.
A LAYERING PIECE
Investing in a good cashmere jumper is a great way to start building your forever wardrobe. Think about tonal colours, or maybe a flash of green which is a huge colour this winter.
Moving away from denim, loose trousers in cotton, canvas, even jersey are my trouser of choice this season.
THE SUEDE BAG
The ultimate luxury – a suede bag.
As soon as the new year hits, I start thinking about pre-spring. Whilst NET-A-PORTER’s edit won’t officially start to land until next month, I have noticed a few pieces starting to trickle through. Lots of suede, organza and satin – I think textures are going to be big. Loulou Studio has also launched some stunning new designs, which I had to get my hands on before they sold out (stock of the below is limited!)
